What is “Agouti”?

This is a photo of a 5 or 6 month old 4th Generation agouti doeling.

Her coloring is called “agouti” which can sometimes appear a  gray, but here it is actually a mixture of black and white hairs.  It can be darker or lighter depending on the mix of black and white hairs.

Agouti coloring can also be seen in  different shades of browns – and not just in the black, white, and gray you see here.

Lighter colored agouti Kinder goats often have darker colored stockings, just like the little girl below!

This doeling is the great grand kid of the Permanent Grand Champion Kinder Doe, Zederkamm Floribunda.
